House Bill 5701 Eliminates Health Insurance Subsidies for FRS Participants
House Bill 5701 was passed by the House Education and Economic Development Appropriations Council and has been placed on the Special Order Calendar for consideration on the House Floor on Wednesday March 31st.
The legislation was favorably passed by the Council, with all the Republican members in support and all the Democratic members in opposition. The bill will negatively impact every Florida Retirement System retiree in the State of Florida by:
- Terminating the Health Insurance Subsidy in December of 2010 for ALL FRS RETIRED MEMBERS.
- Terminating the Health Insurance Subsidy for WIDOWS of fallen fire fighters and police officers.
- Eliminating the Health Insurance Subsidy for ALL FUTURE FRS RETIREES.
THIS WOULD TAKE EFFECT ON JULY 1st.
