TAMPA — Florida Atlantic University's help-wanted sign is officially posted. Nobody should be surprised.
Frank Brogan, the charismatic president of the Boca Raton-based school for six years, was named Friday as Florida's state university chancellor - a job that will take him back to Tallahassee and give him oversight of all 11 public universities.

The Board of Governors unanimously voted to give Brogan, 55, the top spot after morning interviews that included only one other contender - former Ohio Board of Regents Chancellor Roderick Chu.

Discussion lasted just 30 minutes before a unanimous vote of the search committee was taken in Brogan's favor. The full Board of Governors, which met later, took even less time - fewer than 10 minutes - to appoint Brogan.
He accepted the position shortly afterward by phone, although a contract still must be negotiated.
