Big Victory for UFF!
UFF won a big victory this week when an arbitrator ruled in favor of UFF-UF. The case concerned an Assistant Professor of Vietnamese whom was improperly laid off by the University of Florida. The university attempted to lay her off because of dire financial circumstances which UFF did not dispute. The arbitration arose from the improper deisgnation of this professor for lay off. UF did not follow its CBA and the professor still has a job because of UFF.
This case is important to show that even in tough economic times faculty still have rights; rights that UFF works hard to protect.
