Dear Colleagues,
Since many of us are now completing our annual reports, I write to remind you of some issues that have come to UFF's attention that may assist you in the process.
UFF has heard from several bargaining unit members that they have been asked to submit their Faculty Annual Reports soon but have yet to receive their fall 2006 student evaluations. Please note that Article 10.2(a) of the collective bargaining agreement provides that you have fourteen days from the day you receive your evaluations to turn in your annual reports to your chair. http://uffucf.org/documents/contract_2004_2007/article10Settlement.pdf
As many of you know, there were some significant implementation problems with the new Webcourses@UCF system, as well as some ongoing support problems with WebCT. Be sure to alert your chair if any of these problems influenced your student evaluations. Also, Article 10 of the CBA protects you from being evaluated primarily on student evaluations if you provide additional information about teaching-related activities and accomplishments. Please be sure to include this additional information in your annual report.
Finally, please remember that the collective bargaining agreement also states that faculty will be evaluated according to the departmental guidelines that were in place in January 2006. Guidelines developed after January 2006 may not be imposed until the start of the January 2007 evaluation period.
Good luck with your annual reports.
In solidarity,
Lisa Logan
