The United Faculty of Florida and the University of Central Florida Board of Trustees are pleased to announce that on March 16, 2012, we signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that authorizes a promotion plan for instructors and lecturers. Beginning in fall 2012, instructors and lecturers will be able to participate in a promotion process, beginning with those who have been at UCF the longest. We will post this process on the provost’s website and the UFF website. The titles of Instructor and Lecturer will be expanded to three ranks as follows: Instructor, Associate Instructor, Senior Instructor and Lecturer, Associate Lecturer, and Senior Lecturer. Those people who are promoted will receive a nine percent pay increase in the following academic year.
The teams have also signed an MOU that permits electronic routing to be used in one college for the tenure and tenure-earning faculty seeking tenure or promotion during the 2012-2013 period.
In order to finalize both plans, the MOUs must be ratified by a vote of the faculty and a vote of the Board of Trustees. All employees in the bargaining unit will receive a ballot in a few days. Both the UFF and the UCF Administration strongly endorse these plans. We are pleased to reach a mutual and collegial agreement that will benefit our employees.
